Here's a roundup of what's been crossing my desk in the past two or three weeks.
- The Orillia Packet and Times on rebuilding a school;
- The Niagara Advance on NOTL council's consideration of the former Virgin PS lands;
- The Kingston Whig-Standard on a needed reno at a high school;
- The Sault Star on a ceiling collapse at a school in Chapleau;
- The Star again on a rodent problem in a brand new school, with a followup from the board response;
- The Timmins Daily Press on mothballing (but not selling) an empty school;
- The Mitchell Advocate on a church's purchase of a closed school;
- The Stratford Beacon-Herald with a related piece on the two schools that didn't sell;
- The Sarnia Observer on the Lambton-Kent DSB's decision not to start any closure reviews this school;
- The Peterborough Examiner on two surplus school sales; and,
- The Owen Sound Sun Times on a call from Kincardine for major renos at its high school.
Kudos to these folks for the coverage. The sexy article is the one with the crying students and parents when a decision is made to close a school. These help explain that night is not the end of the story.
